Imagination Gym 2021
Open Space to Strengthen Creativity
Imagination is a Muscle, and Our LAB2M is Its Gym !
For a second edition, Eric Jean is offering a vast research laboratory. From May 31 to June 5, 2021, creators are invited to explore the theme of memory.
In an era where everything can be stored, digitized, and endlessly reproduced, what does it mean to act in memory, to preserve memory, to share it ? During this reflection and exploration workshop, we aim to map the most expansive and abstract of territories : human memory. A blank canvas has been given to author Sébastien Harrisson and guest writer Marie-Christine Lê-Huu, who offer us original texts where voices recall, project, and narrate from both intimate and collective memories.
This “imagination gym” is a unique space for those who wish to strengthen their imagination outside the usual production frameworks. It’s also a space to question, renew, and energize the tool that is imagination ! Accompanied by writer Marie-Christine Lê-Huu, artist-researcher and playwright Josianne Dulong-Savignac, and sound designer Philippe Côté-Leduc, thought comes alive through exchanges, allowing a living creative material to emerge and take shape together.
In his theatrical practice, director Eric Jean combines theatre, dance, cinema, and music. In search of discoveries and encounters, he brings together artists from diverse disciplines and backgrounds. Together, they explore ways to recognize instinct and the unconscious as engines of creation. With openness and curiosity, the artists unite their imaginations and techniques to create an entire universe from a space, a musical piece, or an unexpected source of inspiration. From this process arise space, light, characters, and words — allowing a dramaturgy to take shape.
