From renovating its building to welcoming Théâtre Aux Écuries, Les 2 Mondes has, over the years, shaped a vibrant space where creation, production, and presentation come together in the heart of Villeray.
A Place in Motion
Building History
In 1996, the company acquired the building it had been renting since 1987 in Montreal’s Villeray neighborhood. The building was renovated and adapted to bring together its offices and production activities under one roof.
In 2008, when Théâtre Aux Écuries was looking for a place to settle, Les 2 Mondes announced plans to expand the space to accommodate the group’s activities. The production center was once again renovated and significantly enlarged.
Starting in October 2011, the spaces were shared with a new performance venue called Aux Écuries. Theatre enthusiasts and local residents now have a unique meeting place where they can discover the artistic programming of this collective of emerging companies that animate and inhabit the space.
At the same time, Les 2 Mondes continues its creation and artistic research activities while also hosting external companies.
The Lab2M
Creative Space
Lab2M provides artistic teams with a fully equipped space for research and experimentation. It features a flexible, multi-purpose room that can also accommodate presentation and performance activities.
