Gold Mountain

A son attempts to piece together his father’s life through the stories and confidences he manages to draw from him. But each story, each anecdote raises new questions, and the mystery surrounding this family history only deepens.

An epic journey that takes them from a small village in China at the dawn of Communism to the working-class neighbourhoods inhabited by Chinese immigrants in England, as the country is torn apart by war and identity conflicts. Yee Lui will build a family there, earn little and lose much, including the respect of those closest to him, in a society that will forever remain foreign to him.

Gold Mountain is performed in English, with the option of adding French surtitles.

The production premiered in October 2010 at Unity Theatre in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
