Michel Robidoux

His artistic approach is that of a poet’s; he is a “listener” who takes everyday sounds and transforms them in countless ways into his music.

Michel Robidoux began his professional career as a rock musician in the late 1960s before becoming known as a theatre musician and sound designer. He has been associated with Les Deux Mondes since 1976 and became one of its artistic directors in 1989. He has been involved in most of the company’s productions, including Promised Land 1989) – co-created and co-produced with Teatro dell’Angolo (Italy), The Tale of Teeka (1991), les Nuages de terre, a co-creation by Les Deux Mondes and Ki-Yi Mbock Theatre of Abidjan, and Living Memory (2001). Created in 1996 and performed until 2005, the musical drama Leitmotiv was built upon his score and music. In the company’s most recent creation, Gold Mountain, he rejoins Yves Dubé (visual and video concept) and Daniel Meilleur (direction and visual concept) in a new theatrical approach that emphasizes the use of multimedia.
